As a child in my father’s shoe factory, while under his desk, I often played with shoe ornaments and pieces of leather. I would deconstruct the ornaments, and with the leather, reconstruct them into new shoe designs. I quickly realized I had my own creative vision, and that with my hands, I could create anything.
During my career as a shoe designer, scissors became instrumental in cutting paper patterns. I applied this skill to my original art, and inspired by my love of dogs, created my first hand-cut dog portrait. Word spread, and I was able to assemble an extensive portfolio of commissions.
The American Kennel Club soon took notice and started selling prints of my original dog portraits. The concept of incorporating my dog art on other items became irresistible, so I created a collection of gifts for dog lovers.
